Need to quickly spot wood studs hidden under drywall, drywall or stucco in order to safely and securely hang a picture, shelf, TV, or other wall light? Studfinder turns your mobile device into a stud finder! Studfinder uses your device’s compass (magnetometer) sensor to accurately locate metal studs, nails, screws, and other metal fasteners embedded in all wood wall studs. A stud finder is essential for DIY enthusiasts to securely hang heavy wall fixtures and ensure that the fasteners are securely anchored in the sturdy wall studs hidden under the drywall. This app works the same as other handheld stud finder tools: as you move the device along the wall, the LED lights will turn on in sequence as your device’s magnetometer approaches the stud. However, modern mobile devices don’t have a density sensor (which is used in real sonar tools), so Studfinder uses your compass (magnetometer) sensor instead. The compass sensor detects subtle changes in background magnetic fields caused by conductive metal fasteners located in all wood studs. Due to the lack of a density sensor in mobile devices, studfinder apps cannot detect the wood studs themselves, but instead detect metal fasteners in the studs. Please keep this difference in mind when using Studfinder.

If you are concerned about privacy, then Wall Stud Detector is not the best option. Period. Wall Stud Detector tracks you. With many open tabs, let’s say one or two dozen, Wall Stud Detector interface will start breaking down and behaving inconsistently. At some point, the interface might stop responding entirely.

The Wall Stud Detector so many annoyances, so little time. Slow, bulky, difficult to use/navigate, and works VERY poorly sometimes with my iPod and iPhone.

I don’t think  that Wall Stud Detector usefull,  it’s time to move on to something easier also the Wall Stud Detector need to fix some bugs.
